BCA Bachelor of Computer Applications (BCA) is an undergraduate academic degree in computer applications awarded in India after completion of a three-year course. BCA is a course which is equivalent to B.Tech/B.E in Computer Science or Information technology. It is a 3-year (six semesters) undergraduate programmer. It is regarded as a professional course dealing largely on computer software. With the boom of the IT industry, it has become one of the most sought after graduate degree courses in India. Full-time BCA programmes normally take three academic years.This course grooms the students with wide-ranging inputs from the rapidly changing IT industry and prepares them to face the corporate world. Successful students are directly recruited by companies through campus recruitment in various colleges. BCA is slightly similar to BSc in Computer Science. However, BCA is more industry oriented, while BSc focuses more on theoretical aspects of computer science. The scope for BCA is very good. BCA graduates can work in private companies as software engineers, software testers, etc. They can opt for jobs in the government sector also.
